In 1998, several members of Forest Highlands Golf Club formed a non-profit foundation, under the auspices of the Arizona Community Foundation, for the express purpose of wanting to make a difference in the Flagstaff community. They believed that by working together and giving together, we could have a positive impact on the lives of those living in Flagstaff who either go without or struggle to meet their basic human needs of food, shelter and well being. Our caring has made a difference.
Despite the relatively small size of our community and the part-time residence of most of our members, the Foundation is among the three largest contributors to the Flagstaff community. Moreover, we are one of the very few golf communities which has established a foundation to assist those in need.
Since its inception, the Foundation has granted over $3.5 million to more than 65 worthy local charities that emphasize health and human services. As a result, thousands of the less fortunate in the Flagstaff area have been given a helping hand by providing them with food, clothing, shelter, medical care, literacy education, mentoring and counseling.
We can all take pride in what the Foundation has accomplished. It truly has made a difference.
